Egypt cancels the Kanye West concert
Despite announcing his interest in performing a concert in Egypt and receiving the union’s approval, the upcoming Kanye West concert has been canceled due to customs, values, and traditions.
The American rapper and songwriter seems to have faced the same issue as Travis Scott who in Egypt also got his concert canceled after receiving backlash from some Egyptians since they called the artist a “Satanist” across social media platforms.

Egyptian Lawyer Amr Abdel Salam confirmed the news and said that it was canceled due to “Egyptian customs, values, and traditions” as mentioned above.
Kanye West was looking into performing a concert in the country on Apr. 20, 2024, before being shut down and was allegedly going to be held at the iconic Saqqara Pyramids, according to GQ Middle East. Additionally, the rapper also expressed his interest in performing in the UAE.
Muhammad Abdullah who is the official spokesman for the Musical Professions Syndicate was cancelled for personal reasons and no future dates have been set. Moreover, lawyer Amr Abdel Salam said that the Msuical Professions Syndicate should be more aware and study the “artistic content” of the artists before inviting them to the country.
Despite having permits and papers in order, Kanye fans in Egypt will have to wait for another date or travel to another country if they want to see the rapper perform. The decision might’ve come because Kanye has been a controversial figure across the board for a while.
