Dubai Police issues public safety alert as adverse weather conditions expected

Dubai Police issued a public safety alert on Friday night, warning that the emirate is expected to experience extreme weather conditions “in the next few hours.”

The public safety message asked residents to “avoid beaches, refrain from sailing, stay clear of valleys and areas prone to flash floods, exercise caution, drive with care and heed the advice of the authorities.”

Residents across the emirate received the warning around 10 p.m. through alerts on their phones.

Last month, a similar alert was issued to prepare residents to stay safe during a bout of heavy rain, thunder, and lightning across parts of the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier today, Al Arabiya English reported the UAE’s National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority’s (NCEMA) warning regarding inclement weather conditions expected to last from Friday evening until Sunday noon.

Heavy rainfall, lightening, thunder and occasional hailstorms are predicted.
