Driving with an expired license, an Italian woman, 103, causes a stir (video)
Unexpectedly, police have taken notice of a 103-year-old Italian woman who was seen operating her vehicle at night with a license that had expired two years prior.
Born in 1920, Candida Ouderso astonished law enforcement officials with her midnight antics, covering significant distances even at her elderly age.
The uncommon traffic infraction has generated curiosity worldwide, since Ouderso’s will to stay independent was evident when she traveled to see friends in a different province.
At the age of 100, Ouderso was allowed to drive by Vicenza authorities after passing a series of exams, including a vision examination.
When the police pulled stopped the car, they were shocked to see how old the driver was and that her license had expired two years before. The woman showed an impressive degree of independence, as she seemed intent to visit acquaintances in the nearby town despite her advanced age.
The cops’ struggles with the unusual conditions brought the situation to the attention of a large audience. In compliance with traffic regulations, the woman received fines, and her car was hauled to the agreed-upon spot. But despite the shock, police made sure the old lady went home safely, bringing an odd end to her exciting evening.
