Debra Messing mocks Motaz Azaiza for leaving Gaza

Amid leaving his hometown Gaza because of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, Palestinian Photojournalist Motaz Azaiza was mocked by American actress Debra Messing. 

Before leaving his hometown, Motaz documented more than 100 days of the grueling war on Gaza and witnessed the killing of many of his friends, colleagues, family members, and his cat by Israel. The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza resulted in the killing of more than 25,000 Palestinians with a big percentage being children by the time of writing this article.

Debra Messing mocks Motaz Azaiza for leaving Gaza

Debra took to her official Instagram account and posted on her story a picture of Motaz at the airport and said “WATCH, GQ “Man of the Year” and Gaza “journalist” leaves for Qatar, very interesting decision.” putting Man of the Year and “Journalist” in quotations which shows a mocking and disrespectful manner to the individual.

This normally caused outrage among social media users with several taking to X (formerly Twitter) to state their opinion on the matter:

“Mocking a man who witnessed and documented an ongoing genocide for over 100 days while you sit inside your luxury home in New York? The absolute nerve…”

“Some people especially in the West, do not have a moral compass to know what’s wrong and what’s right.”

“What is Debra Messing’s problem? Who gave her the right to criticize/mock  Motaz Azaiza’s decision after everything he went through?”

Motaz Azaiza was and still is active on many social media platforms including Meta’s Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), he faced many issues with Meta especially Instagram for posting the reality of what’s been happening in Palestine as they deemed it “inappropriate” and “goes against their community guidelines.”

Leaving Gaza might allow him to document the ongoing Israeli aggression on the strip from Qatar as Al Jazeera resides there.
