Blok3 fires back at Demet Akalın: “She’s Like an Aunt to Me”

Blok3 breaks silence after Demet Akalın’s claims spark controversy in Turkey.

When Demet Akalın made comments about Blok3, he replied, “It’s been 10 years since she last got to number one.” It wouldn’t be right for me to answer; she’s like an aunt to me.”

Blok3 was the most-listened-to act in Turkey on Spotify in 2025. After the charts came out, Demet Akalın said that digital sites had been hacked:

In the summer, Ebo called her husband, Okan Kurt, and said, “We’re going to take her down from number one.” The next day, we were taken off the list. She said, “Okay, Blok3 makes great music, but there’s something else going on there.”

Block3 replied to what the famous pop star said.

“OUR ELDERS ARE SLANDERING US.”

Blok3 said the following about Akalın when they saw him at Zorlu Center:

“She hasn’t been number one in 10 years.” Our leaders are spreading lies about us. As young people, let’s not answer; instead, let’s just say, “Whatever they say is true.” But I can’t believe people would do such things. During a very tough time, we’ve accomplished a lot. Because she’s older than my mother and the same age as my grandma, it wouldn’t be right for me to answer. It makes sense that she was behind schedule. When I talk to her, I treat her like my aunt.

“SHE’D BETTER DELETE HER BOTS FROM INSTAGRAM.”

Block3 said Demet Akalın was hitting him to get attention:

“She has to attack me to get talked about. I’ll give her the last bit of attention she wants. We’ve achieved so much success; did we fool the world charts? Global Spotify is sharing me and giving me messages of thanks and congratulations. We need help, but in our country, our leaders are spreading lies about us. I think she should get rid of her Instagram bots.
