Apple to pay $95M over Siri privacy concerns

Apple, the American multinational corporation and technology company, will pay an approximate amount of $95 million to settle privacy concerns related to Siri, the digital assistant developed and popularized by the company.

Siri privacy lawsuit

According to sources, Apple agreed to pay a total of $95 million in cash to settle the Siri privacy lawsuits case. The lawsuits claimed that the Siri digital assistant violated users’ privacy.

Some Apple users alleged that Siri recorded their personal conversations when activated unintentionally. They also claimed that the company used these conversations with third-party advertisers without obtaining their consent.

Furthermore, users stated that they were targeted with advertisements related to their private conversations with doctors or discussions about products with others.

Apple agreed to settle the lawsuits and pay the amount in California federal court. It is worth noting that the company’s net income was worth $93.74 billion in 2024.

“Apple has at all times denied and continues to deny any and all alleged wrongdoing and liability,” the company stated.

Notably, Apple is not the only tech giant facing such a lawsuit; Google is currently dealing with a similar issue regarding its voice-activated assistant technology, and Amazon has previously gone through the same situation.
