Train your thumbs for GTA 6: UK gym launches new workout

A popular UK gym chain launched a new thumb workout to help players prepare for the countless hours and all-nighters they will spend in GTA 6 ahead of its Nov. 19 launch.

According to Dexerto, PureGym collaborated with personal trainer David Hope to launch a series of exercises to keep players’ hands and fingers in pristine condition despite long gaming sessions.

The workout routine is specifically aimed at controller users. The three exercises include curling fingers into a fist, touching the thumb with each fingertip, and finger push-ups to strengthen the core.

Hope recommends that each exercise be repeated 10 times before jumping on GTA 6. He said, “We warm up before a run or a gym session, so why not before a long gaming session? Your thumbs and hands are doing the heavy lifting, and the rest of your body is barely moving. Even just a few minutes before you start your game and a quick reset every hour or so, can make a big difference to how you feel the next day.”

The former Royal Air Force serviceman also created a living room workout routine that features jumping jacks, arm circles, and leg swings.

Reports state the release of GTA 6 could cause many sick days and vacations globally. An economist claimed that around 1.5 million Americans could skip work for the game on Nov. 19, costing the US economy $1 billion, while publisher Take-Two is expected to profit the same amount, though not directly. However, economist José García Montalvo said that this is an academic estimate, not an official announcement.
