A.B.İ. will reportedly end after 23 episodes following disappointing ratings.

The new Turkish TV season has already delivered its first early finale news. A.B.İ., the ATV drama that brought Kenan İmirzalıoğlu and Bergüzar Korel together on screen again after 11 years, is reportedly set to end after its fifth episode of Season 2.

The decision came shortly after the latest ratings results, according to Turkish television journalist Birsen Altuntaş. The OGM Pictures production will reportedly conclude its run with the fifth episode of its second season. Since the first season ended with Episode 18, the planned finale would be the show’s 23rd episode overall.

The news comes just weeks after A.B.İ. returned for its second season on ATV. The new season premiered on September 8, with the series continuing to air on Tuesday nights.

ATV had strongly promoted the second season, particularly the return of Bergüzar Korel to television. The actress joined the series as Leyla, a powerful and idealistic woman whose past is closely connected to Doğan, played by Kenan İmirzalıoğlu. Their reunion was one of the biggest talking points surrounding the new season.

Korel and İmirzalıoğlu had previously starred together in the hit series Karadayı. Their return to the screen together after 11 years created considerable interest before the second season began.

The early finale decision was reportedly made following the September 22 ratings. A.B.İ. ranked fourth in the Total category with a 3.32 rating and an 11.18 share. It also ranked seventh in the AB category and sixth in the 20+ABC1 category.

The Tuesday night competition was particularly crowded. A.B.İ. faced other new-season dramas including Tuzlu Kahve and Haysiyet, while Anne Yarısı also entered the competition that night. Tuzlu Kahve led the Total, AB and 20+ABC1 categories on September 22.

Interestingly, A.B.İ. had shown some improvement earlier in the season. Its third episode of Season 2 increased across all three major ratings categories, reaching 3.32 in Total, 2.42 in AB and 3.07 in ABC1. Despite that improvement, the latest ratings were followed by reports of the early finale decision.

What Happened to the Story?

The second season continued Doğan’s fight against Saruhan while introducing Leyla as a major new character. According to ATV’s official character information, Leyla’s connection to Saruhan creates a major obstacle between her and Doğan, while Doğan continues fighting to protect his family and regain the life that was taken from him.

The most recent episode also pushed several storylines forward. ATV’s episode information says Leyla faced a difficult decision after Saruhan’s marriage proposal, while Doğan became increasingly suspicious of the gaps in her story. At the same time, Doğan continued his efforts to protect his sister Melek, while a mysterious message at the port signaled a new conflict for Saruhan.

For now, Turkish reports are pointing to an ending after the fifth episode of Season 2. However, neither ATV nor OGM Pictures had issued a detailed official statement explaining the decision or confirming the exact finale date in the reports reviewed.

The reported decision marks a surprisingly short second-season run for a series that returned with two of Turkish television’s most recognizable stars and was heavily promoted ahead of the new broadcasting season.
