Iran ‘victim of terrorism – Pezeshkian to Trump

The second day of the annual General Debate at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York City has kicked off.
Notable speakers on Wednesday include Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
‘We do not seek to replace one dependency with another’, says Libya’s al-Menfi
Continuing his remarks, al-Menfi said Libya previously “paid a heavy price” for power struggles among foreign states within its borders and now seeks “balanced, strategic partnerships” that uphold its national sovereignty.

“We do not seek to replace one influence with another, one axis with another or one dependency with another,” said al-Menfi.

“We want strong relations with our Arab surroundings, especially our neighbouring countries,” he continued, adding that Libya seeks relations based on “common interests, mutual respect, non-interference and respect for national sovereignty”.
Libya’s al-Menfi says war in Sudan endangers security, stability of the region
Al-Menfi has said the ongoing armed conflict in the Sudan, which he described as Libya’s “brotherly neighbour”, has made its people the “victims of a devastating war for which they are paying a hefty price”.

“In that war, interests and interventions collide, and its effects extend beyond the borders of Sudan, endangering the security and stability of the region and the unity of its states,” he said.
Libya’s al-Menfi condemns attacks on Saudi Arabia
Al-Menfi has pledged Libya’s “full solidarity” with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and condemned “any targeting that threatens it or endangers Islamic holy sites”, after a strike originating from Iraq hit the country’s East-West pipeline, and Saudi authorities accused Yemen’s Houthis of an attack on Mecca.

“The security of the kingdom and the Gulf, given their Arab and Islamic weight, is not a national matter, but it is a pillar of the security and stability of our region.”
