Taylor Swift donates $50,000 to mother hit by car while saving stranger

Taylor Swift is supporting a mother in her recovery after being hit by a car while assisting others.

The singer donated $50,000 to a GoFundMe page set up to help Ashley Taunton, her husband, and their three children afford everyday expenditures so they could focus on Taunton’s health, Rolling Stone reports.

According to the donation page, Taunton observed someone in need following a car accident and stopped to help despite the torrential weather. It was just “Ashley doing Ashley things,” according to her husband Joe. While Taunton was assisting, another vehicle hydroplaned toward them, and Taunton shoved a person on the scene out of the way.

Unfortunately, Taunton was struck and will have a difficult rehabilitation ahead. According to her GoFundMe page, she has had two major surgeries and has more scheduled.

Swift appears to have left a message in the page’s comments area for Taunton and her family that reads, “Wishing you the best recovery possible and sending love to your family!”

Taylor Swift has a lengthy history of giving to charitable organizations. Most recently, the singer and her husband, Travis Kelce, made a generous $26 million donation to 20 charities in the United States prior to their much-anticipated wedding at Madison Square Garden in July.
