Zendaya accused of insulting Brigitte Macron

American star Zendaya was heavily attacked on social media after a behavior that was dubbed as an insult to France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron.
A video was shared on social media showing Zendaya sitting while Brigitte Macron was approaching her to say hello.
However, the American actress and singer stayed in her seat sitting and didn’t get up to shake the hand of the wife of President Emmanuel Macron.
The incident sparked debate on social media, as some viewed standing up to greet an older person or someone of official stature as a basic rule of etiquette.
One follower commented on the video, “You should stand up when the First Lady of France attempts to greet you.” Another said it was “inappropriate behavior”.
Followers also noted that Zendaya had not stood up to greet Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, the parent company of Louis Vuitton, moments before Brigitte approached her.
Conversely, others defended the actress, arguing that the situation did not warrant such controversy, particularly since she did not necessarily know the identity of the person approaching her and had initiated the greeting with a smile and a handshake.
The Louis Vuitton show took place in the Cours Carré at the Louvre Museum, as part of Paris Fashion Week, and was attended by a number of film stars, including Emma Stone, Saoirse Ronan, and Ana de Armas.
