Three Jordanian agents killed in drug raid

Three counter-narcotics agents were shot dead and a fourth wounded during a raid in the Jordanian capital Amman on Wednesday, the authorities said.
A special police unit launched the high-risk operation early on Wednesday in the east of the city, a spokesman for public security said, according to the official Petra news agency.
When they arrived at the targeted site a man opened fire and killed the three agents. The fourth was hospitalized.
The shooter was arrested during the raid, while the authorities seized three firearms, drugs in tablet form, three blocks of hashish and large quantities of crystal meth and cannabis.
The Jordanian authorities, who have intensified their efforts against drug and weapons trafficking in recent years, said they had an “unwavering commitment” to “dismantling drug trafficking networks and preventing the spread of narcotics within Jordanian society.”
