Turkey: Iran’s indiscriminate attacks on Arab countries ‘incredibly wrong strategy’

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Tuesday that Iran’s strategy of attacking Arab countries in retaliation for US and Israeli attacks against it was an “incredibly wrong strategy” and increased instability in the region.

“Iran’s indiscriminate bombing of all these places is an incredibly wrong strategy,” he told state broadcaster TRT Haber, and added that Tehran was using a strategy of “if I drown, I’ll drown the region as well.”

Fidan said that countries attacked by Iran may not be able to remain silent if the strikes continued, and that the risk of the conflict widening further was worrying.

He said that Iran’s new leadership, when elected and formed, could provide a window of opportunity to end the war with the United States and Israel.

Fidan said any compromise that may be needed would be better than prolonging the war, and added that he hoped the new Iranian leadership would “show the will” to end the conflict.
