Ms. Rachel exhibits art pieces by children in Gaza to raise funds for youth

YouTube star Ms. Rachel held an exhibition in New York to sell artwork created by young artists in Gaza to raise funds for Palestinian children.

In her latest initiative, the early childhood educator and YouTuber Rachel Accurso presented a one-day exhibition titled ‘Colors That Survived’ on Tuesday at Caelum Gallery in Chelsea.

The show featured artwork by children from Gaza, with proceeds going directly to the young artists.

According to media reports, 20 limited-edition prints of each artwork will be sold for $200 each.

After the exhibition, the works will remain on sale through January 30 via Artists Support, an organization that sells art for charitable causes.

The exhibition is held in collaboration with the makers of ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’, a film based on recordings from the moments leading up to the killing of six-year-old Hind Rajab by the Israeli military in 2024.

Among the featured works is ‘Begging for Food’, by to 16-year-old artist Yara, which depicts the starvation in Gaza.

Another piece, ‘House on His Back’, attributed to 12-year-old Ahmed, portrays a figure carrying the weight of his home.

The young artists are identified by first name only.

The exhibition builds on Accurso’s recent efforts to spotlight Palestinian children’s voices.

In November, she debuted a dress adorned with artwork by Palestinian children at Glamour magazine’s Women of the Year gala.

Accurso has faced intense backlash following her public opposition to Israel’s actions in Gaza, particularly the killing of children.

In a tearful video posted in May 2024, she spoke about the bullying she experienced as a result of her comments but said she would continue to speak out.

On her YouTube channel, Accurso has featured children from Gaza, including Rahaf, a three-year-old girl who became a double amputee following an Israeli airstrike.

She has supported several fundraisers for Palestinian children, including a Cameo initiative that reportedly raised $50,000, and has given interviews defending her advocacy.

Her Instagram currently links to a fundraiser for 16-year-old artist Yara Abu Kwaik, who was displaced by Israel’s military operations in Gaza.

According to UN estimates, 50,000 children in Gaza have been killed or injured since Israel began its attacks in 2023.
