Snow White tops ‘Lowest Rated Movies’ IMDB list with a 1.9/10

Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White seems to not catch a break, from bombing at the box office after garnering $87 million globally out of its $250 million budget, to dethroning the lowest-rated movies in film history for its bizarre usage of CGI, controversy surrounding Rachel Zegler, lackluster acting, and storyline.

Snow White currently sits at 1.9/10 on IMDB with 76,000 reviews mostly negative, swarming the popular film website. It also dethroned movies such as Dragon Ball Evolution, House of the Dead, Cats, and many more on IMDB.

While IMDB still hasn’t updated its ‘Lowest Rated Movies’ list, the movie is competing with its number one spot, the Disaster Movie which is currently sitting on a similar score.

Compared to other movie critic websites, Snow White currently sits at 43 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 47 percent on Metacritic.

The movie suffered a massive deal of ill fate compared to other titles of the same caliber including Lion King, and Aladdin which garnered great box office success. So what makes this live adaptation so different?

Casting actresses like Rachel Zelger and Israeli actress Gal Gadot surrounded the movie with a great deal of controversies due to political issues such as the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza. For example, Disney suffered huge boycott calls from pro-Palestine activists who urged other people on social media to refrain from watching the film since Gal Gadot stars in it.

Rachel Zegler’s over-the-top behavior and political views on social media and in interviews didn’t help either turning away the “anti-woke” crowd from the movie.

Several social media users also pointed out that the dwarfs in Snow White’s live-action adaptation looked “very bizarre” compared to the 1937 animation whose designs were described as cute and close to the heart. Others expressed their opinion about Gal Gadot’s acting describing it as “uninspired” and simply “bad” following with examples.

Another issue worth pointing out is that the movie cost nearly $300 million (according to BBC), making it impossible to break even.
