BTS’ Jin reveals Chris Martin gifted him a guitar during The Tonight Show

BTS Jin shares Coldplay guitar story & performs “Running Wild” on The Tonight Show

On November 20, after much public anticipation, BTS member Jin made his first solo visit on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon to promote his debut solo album, “Happy.”

Jin shared the incredible tale of how “Coldplay” guitarist Chris Martin gave him a guitar during the conversation.

“I’ve heard that he gifted you a guitar.” Fallon questioned the BTS member about his new album. Jin responded, “Yes, I was strolling behind Chris Martin when I casually asked, ‘Can I have this guitar?'” He was holding a guitar that had been left over from his tour. ‘Of course!’ Chris said. “I was so happy; it’s now a family heirloom,” he added.

Then Jimmy Fallon inquired, “Are you a huge lover of rock? Which rock musician is your favorite? In his own tongue, Jin replied in English, saying, “I’m a huge fan of Coldplay.” A few years ago, I had the chance to collaborate with Coldplay, and Chris Martin sent me a song he wrote before for this album. It was an honor for us to collaborate on that.

In an earlier 2023 video, the Coldplay leader said, “I really like this guy,” expressing his affection for the K-pop sensation.

In addition to teaching Fallon the choreography for his smash song “Super Tuna,” Jin spent time with Jimmy after returning from mandatory military service in June, sharing stories about reestablishing contact with his BTS comrades.

The reunion also featured Jin’s highly anticipated live performance of “Running Wild,” a notable song from his first solo album.

Street signs decorated the stage as the K-pop singer, clad in a glittering pastel green jacket, performed the new song against the stunning backdrop of a desert road.

“Running Wild,” “I’ll Be There,” “Another Level,” “Falling,” “Heart on the Window” (a joint effort with Red Velvet’s Wendy), and “I Will Come To You” are among the six tunes on the “Happy” album.

Six years after BTS made their debut on Fallon’s show, Jin makes an appearance. The group, which consists of SUGA, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, performed their 11th Billboard Hot 100 singles, “Idol” and “I’m Fine,” together with their dance number from “Fortnite,” in 2018.
