Washington Rallies for War in Ukraine and Pressures the Global South for Its Elections
The U.S. administration is trying to make up for its failure in Ukraine ahead of elections that the country will witness in a few months, putting the Democratic Party administration, President Joe Biden, and his running mate Kamala Harris in a dilemma. They had planned, coordinated, and incited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to provoke the Russian bear, which responded with a large military attack aimed at protecting the security of Russian territories.
The U.S. administration has instructed Kyiv to take several steps to create an image of victory. The first step is military, where it supported Ukrainian forces to launch an attack on Kursk, providing advanced weapons, plans, maps, satellite images, and thousands of soldiers to raid the area. The American media covered this with footage portraying a significant victory, a large-scale assault, and a humiliating defeat for Russia, according to their terminology.
The second step was political, through reviving what is called the “Peace Summit in Ukraine,” held in Switzerland last June, which was a resounding failure due to major countries abstaining from signing the final statement, and some countries, including Arab ones, retracting their signatures later. Major powers like China ignored the conference, and Russia, a key party in the issue, was not invited to the talks. President Biden himself did not attend after the failure was evident from the start, sending Vice President Kamala Harris to represent his administration instead.
Ukraine’s discourse contributed to the failure, too. Back in 2022, after the full-scale Russian attack, Zelensky attempted to gain sympathy from the Global South by presenting Ukraine as a victim of war.
The Ukrainian move, supported by Western allies, is cunningly targeting Islamic countries, the African Union, the Arab League, and humanitarian organizations, and is sure to receive extensive media coverage, filled with misinformation to whitewash the stance of those parties breaking neutrality. Changing their stance would undermine the prestige of these organizations and make them subservient to a politically and militarily corrupt and failing regime.
The Western-Ukrainian allure revolves around attracting Third World countries, including wealthy Gulf nations, by enticing them to invest in reconstruction and contribute to meeting military needs under the guise of an aid program. This would then transfer to the mafia authorities within the Ukrainian army that control imports and aid, turning them into personal profits.
Western countries have taken over important and profitable sectors such as industry, agriculture, and energy, leaving less beneficial sectors to entice wealthy Third World countries to invest in, in exchange for privileges and future promises that will not be fulfilled or honored.
The Ukrainian economy suffers from severe deterioration due to corruption, with national debt exceeding $150 billion, and it recorded massive losses in its productive sectors at the end of last year. On August 1st of this year, Kyiv failed to pay the interest on its $20 billion debt, despite the West’s generous aid.
This situation has led countries, organizations, and private financial institutions to reconsider granting loans to Ukraine, noting that they had provided Kyiv with $10 billion, of which Zelensky’s regime could not repay even a small portion, with the funds evaporating into thin air.
Many in the Global South view the United States as a new imperialist power relentlessly working to expand its “empire” eastward until it faced resistance from Russia. Today, it is working to establish what is called the “Ukraine War Damage Register” to seize $400 billion from Russia in European banks after being frozen and transferred to the Ukrainian treasury. However, the West collided with international laws preventing this move, prompting Washington and NATO to seek ways to legitimize this act, threatening other countries in the future with the seizure of their assets and property in the West, hanging like a sword over anyone who opposes U.S. directions and interests.
