Egyptian footballer Ahmed Refaat passes away after sudden health decline
Ahmed Refaat, a member of Modern Future, passed away recently after a rapid decline in his health; the news of his death broke on social media not long ago.
The Modern Future Club released a statement on Facebook stating: “The Modern Sport Club announces the death of Ahmed Refaat, a player for the first team and the Egyptian national team, following a sharp deterioration in his health condition. He passed away with immense patience, sorrow, and a heightened trust in God’s plan and destiny.
“After a difficult and conflictual journey following his health crisis on March 11, 2024,” the club said, “he was subsequently transferred to the hospital so that he may die.”
Our hearts are heavy with grief, but we may find solace in the plans God has for us, the Modern Future Club said in its last statement. We hope that the Almighty God will surround the footballer with his great kindness, place him in His expansive paradise, and give him the grace to be patient and at peace. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and all Egyptian football lovers.
With a statement reading, “And solace… We belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return.” the Egyptian Football Federation expressed their sorrow for Ahmed.
“Captain Ahmed Refaat, a player for the Modern Sport Club and the national team.” The Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, its president, Mahmoud Al-Khatib, and the board of directors grieved his passing.
Zamalek Club and its board of directors posted a statement on their official “X” account expressing their sorrow at the passing of Ahmed Refaat, a former player for the club.
In March of last year, during the team’s play against Al-Ittihad Alexandria in the 16th round of the Egyptian Premier League, Ahmed Refaat passed out on the pitch.
Additionally, the medical staff treated the player in a hurried manner on the field before an ambulance arrived and transported him to the hospital.
