Pro-Palestine activists call for Coldplay boycott amid neutral stance on Gaza war

Pro-Palestine activists are calling for boycotting British band Coldplay after their lead singer Chris Martin asked the audience to send their love to Israel and Palestine yesterday on Jun. 30, 2024.

Activists took to multiple social media outlets mainly X (formerly known as Twitter) and expressed their opinions about Martin’s neutral take on the matter despite the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7 which resulted in the killing and injuring of thousands of Palestinians.

The concert took place in Glastonbury, United Kingdom, and Martin’s neutral comment was not received well among pro-Palestine activists. Here’s what some had to say:

“I don’t understand. what is so hard about saying stop genocide. And before people say  Israelis aren’t their government. We have seen for the past 9 months we have seen how supportive Israelis are of this genocide, but we must baby them, while they support the slaughter of others.”

Palestine

“Mentioning them all is 100% worse than mentioning nobody. Spineless behavior.”

“Sending love to Israel,  while they’re sending bombs to children really not taking a stand against genocide is a cowardly behavior.”

After his comment, many users took to X and demanded the boycott of Coldplay.

Palestine

Pro-Palestine people have been trying their best to boycott products and services linked to Israel due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, which resulted in the killing of at least 37,877 and injuring more than 86,969 of whom are children, elderly and women.

The boycott is done to hinder Israel’s economy and to stop its ongoing aggression on Palestine in general. Moreover, many users are encouraging others globally to support local businesses including coffee shops, restaurants, and brands instead of visiting Starbucks, McDonald’s, and many more.
