US woman dies after eating sushi
An American mother has tragically passed away recently, less than a month after consuming sushi containing toxic mushrooms.
According to the New York Post, Donna Ventura, who was aged 64, went through very rough days full of agony after consuming poisonous morel mushrooms imported from China at a sushi eatery in Montana, USA.
Ventura shockingly fell very ill with food poisoning merely an hour after consuming a sushi roll, which turned out to be filled with both salmon and poisonous mushrooms at a local establishment called Dave’s Sushi.
For around two weeks, Donna fought for her life in the intensive care unit, while medical professionals were able to confirm that the toxins from the fungus were progressively damaging her liver and kidneys, as they had suspected.
As the disease reached her throat, Donna lost her ability to speak, which caused her to turn to written communication to express herself in her final days. Her husband revealed that among her last messages were: “I’m not sure I can go on much longer, I can’t take the pain.”
Sadly, Ventura was one of two people who ended up passing away after dining at the renowned restaurant, as revealed by an investigation conducted by the local health department in Gallatin County. Additionally, at least 51 people experienced different symptoms of sickness following their visit to the eatery.
It’s fair to say this turn of events shocked not just the people affected, but the community around the eatery.
