Countries announce Eid Al-Fitr holiday date
Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh of Jordan has announced the official dates for the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, starting from Tuesday, April 9, and concluding on Friday, April 12.
During this period, various governmental and public institutions in Jordan, including ministries, universities, and municipalities, will remain closed.
However, certain ministries and official departments with specific work requirements may operate despite the holiday schedule.
Meanwhile, in the UAE, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the association, predicts that Eid Al Fitr is likely to commence on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Furthermore, Al Jarwan notes that the birth of the Shawwal crescent is expected to coincide with a total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024.
This alignment suggests that the crescent moon may be visible after sunset the following day in most parts of the Islamic world.
Eid Al Fitr, commonly known as the ‘Holiday of Breaking the Fast,’ follows Ramadan and holds significant cultural and religious importance in the Muslim community.
Residents of Dubai eagerly anticipate confirmation of holiday dates to plan their celebrations accordingly, as Eid Al Fitr marks the first major public holiday of 2024.
