Dozens of psychiatrists are leaving Israel following 7 October
An Israeli newspaper reported on Monday evening that, as the mental health system in Israel collapses following the outbreak of war on October 7th of last year, dozens of doctors working in Israel’s public mental health system have left for Britain.
The newspaper “Haaretz” stated: “Recently, dozens of psychiatrists working in the public health system have left for Britain, according to sources in the field.”
It added: “The wave of departures comes at a time when there is an increasing demand for assistance in the field of mental health in the country amid the war, and now the mental health system is facing a real problem.”
The report explained that “the plans for the departure of psychiatrists began even before the war,” against the backdrop of the government’s adoption of a “judicial reform” plan, which the opposition describes as a “coup.”
