It’s Kristmas: Ryan Gosling drops a Christmas version of Barbie’s ‘I’m Just Ken’
Ryan Gosling has given us the ultimate Christmas gift: a festive remix of his hit song “I’m Just Ken” from the movie Barbie. And it’s not just a song—it’s a whole music video, featuring Mark Ronson, candy canes, and sunglasses.
The song, which was written by Ronson and Andrew Wyatt for the film, is a catchy and hilarious ode to Ken’s identity as Barbie’s boyfriend. In the movie, Gosling plays Ken, a charismatic and confident fashion designer who falls in love with Barbie, played by Saoirse Ronan. The film, directed by Greta Gerwig, broke box office records and received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Now, Gosling and Ronson have teamed up to release “I’m Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie)”, a remix that adds some holiday cheer to the original song. The music video, which was released on YouTube, shows Gosling and Ronson in a recording studio, decorated with Christmas lights and ornaments. Gosling, who is wearing a pink sweater and a scarf, worries that the remix might not be fresh enough. He suggests adding a piano solo, but Ronson, who is holding a candy cane, assures him that the Christmas vibe is enough.
Gosling then puts on a pair of sunglasses and says that he is ready to sing. He explains that the sunglasses are because “the world can have Ken’s voice but only Barbie can have his eyes.” The video then cuts to the song, which is a fun and festive version of “I’m Just Ken”, with jingle bells and orchestral arrangements.
The song is a perfect addition to any Christmas playlist, and a great way to celebrate the success of Barbie, which is expected to sweep the awards season next year.
Gosling and Ronson have also released a few other remixes of “I’m Just Ken” on Ken, the EP, which is available on streaming platforms. Because, as they say, one remix is simply not Kenough.
