Andrew Tate: lice, bed bugs are my only friends

Controversial internet personality Andrew Tate spoke out about miserable conditions in his Romanian prison cell, alleging it was “inhumane” and infested with “lice and bugs.”

On Dec. 29, Romanian police arrested Tate, his brother Tristan, and two other Romanian nationals on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group with the aim of exploiting women on the internet. Tate denied any wrongdoing.

On Wednesday, Tate posted a message to his followers, saying it was his “first email” from jail. He claimed that prison conditions were “inhumane.” He said that his prison cell had no light and that the room is full of cockroaches, lice, and bed bugs.

“They are trying to break me,” he said of his opponents whom he did not identify.

“Thrown inside a cell without light. Cockroaches, lice, and bed bugs are my only friends at night,” he wrote. “When the guards bring me to and from the courtroom, I stay absolutely respectful.”

But he added: “They try to pour hatred into my heart.”

Tate is convinced that prison guards believe he is innocent. ”They know I am innocent, they are just performing their job, they have families to feed,” he said.

Tate’s Twitter feed is still posting, but it is unclear if it was himself posting, or someone else.

He tweeted a verse from the Quran: “Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into the light.”
