A certain K-drama called When Life Gives You Tangerines has taken the internet by storm, surpassing shows like Squid Game and Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha in ratings on the film platform IMDB. 

When Life Gives You Tangerines is a slice-of-life romance that follows the story of a spirited girl and a steadfast boy as they venture into a life full of love, setbacks, and triumphs in South Korea’s stunning Jeju Island. What makes the show so unique is its timeline, as it spans across three generations starting from the 1950s, a time when South Korea was suffering from economic difficulties after suffering from the Korean War.

While it follows a simple slice-of-life storyline, several fans pointed out that the execution made the newly released series special, from the actors’ performances to the beautifully crafted setting, which spans across three cities: Jejeu Island, Busan, and Seoul.

The newly released series on Netflix is being showered with compliments by K-Drama fans globally, garnering a whopping 9.3/10 rating on IMDB, making it one of the highest-rated K-Dramas on the platform. Moreover, the show is currently sitting on a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5/5 on Google user reviews.

A user on IMDB wrote, “K-Drama of the Century!” Adding, “If I could rate it more than 10 stars then I would! 4 episodes in and I can already tell this is/would be a masterpiece! Indeed, it’s one of those dramas that only comes every 10 years and would remain iconic in this lifetime.”
