Viral video: Mexico fan gives Argentina fans the red card and dances

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup came to an end with Spain as the victor, a Mexico fan went viral after taunting Argentina fans during the final, when they reportedly began insulting and harassing him. 

In response, the man showed the Argentina fans a red card, started laughing and dancing, then took off his Mexico jersey only to reveal a Spain one underneath.

A video of the incident went viral, flooding platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, garnering millions of views as football fans praised the man for his sportsmanship and carefree nature:

“Between the Mexican manager and this guy I’ve got a new love for Mexicans, they’re passionate fans but also have great humility and humour.”

“Used to like Argentina but their players and fans show their real face happy Spain won against the hot tempered MMA players , 0 shots at goal says it all.”

Spain lifted the trophy after defeating Argentina 1-0 in extra time, marking a dramatic end to the 2026 World Cup. The Spanish team also received additional awards, including World Cup Championship Rings, the Golden Ball for midfielder Rodri, the Golden Glove for goalkeeper Unai Simón, the FIFA Best Young Player for defender Pau Cubarsi, and the $51 million FIFA Prize Money.

However, it was Ferran Torres who scored the goal in Argentina’s net in the 106th minute of extra time, thanks to the brilliant assist made by Nico Williams.
