US Treasury Secretary Yellen affirms strong support for Egypt’s economic reforms

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen voiced US support for bolstering Egypt’s economy and economic reforms during a meeting with senior Egyptian finance officials on Tuesday, the Treasury said in a statement.

The meeting with Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Central Bank of Egypt Governor Hassan Abdalla and International Cooperation Minister Raina al-Mashat comes as Egypt is holding discussions on a potential expansion of its $3 billion International Monetary Fund loan program amid economic challenges from the conflict in Gaza.
