US, Israel attack Iran live: Trump announces ‘major combat operations’

United States President Donald Trump says the US has begun “major combat operations” in Iran after Israel also said it had launched missile attacks against the country.
Multiple explosions have been heard in Iran’s capital, Tehran, while blasts have also been reported in several other locations across the country.

Explosions have rocked northern Israel as the country worked to intercept incoming Iranian missiles after launching a nationwide attack with the US on Iran.
The blasts echoed just after the Israeli military said it would be using its air defence systems to bring down the Iranian fire.
There was no immediate word on any damage or casualties from the ongoing attack.

Missiles have struck several areas in Tehran, where ministries and military compounds are located.
Explosions have also been reported in Iranian cities including Kermanshah, Lorestan, Tabriz, Isfahan and Karaj.

The Israeli army said missiles were launched from Iran, prompting sirens in several areas of the country.
Israel has declared a state of emergency and advised its citizens to stay close to shelters.

British Embassy in Qatar issues advisory for its nationals
British Embassy in Qatar has recommended its nationals in the Gulf country to shelter in place until further notice “out of an abundance of caution”.
“We are monitoring the situation” amid “heightened risk of regional tension” that could lead “travel disruption and other unanticipated impacts”, the advisory said on X.
