Unemployment rate in UK raises to 4.3% in July-September
The unemployment rate in the UK increased 0.3 percentage points to 4.3% in the July-September period on a yearly basis, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said on Tuesday.
There are more than 1.48 million unemployed people in the country as of July-September, the ONS said.
Market expectation for the July-September period was at 4.1%.
The employment rate was largely unchanged at 74.8%, with 33.3 million people employed in the country.
The UK economic inactivity – people not in employment who have not been seeking work within the last four weeks and/or are unable to start work within the next two weeks – rate decreased to 21.8%, the ONS added.
