UAE, US presidents discuss Iran attacks in phone call

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and US President Donald Trump discussed Iran’s ongoing attacks in the region during a phone call on Wednesday, the Emirati state news agency WAM reported.

The two leaders “discussed the ongoing Iranian terrorist aggression against the UAE and other countries in the region, which targets civilians and civilian facilities and infrastructure,” WAM said.

They also discussed the latest regional developments and their implications for regional and global security, including the impact on international maritime routes and the global economy, the agency added.

The call comes amid heightened tensions linked to the US-Israeli war with Iran. Several Arab and Islamic countries – including all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members – have faced repeated Iranian attacks since the conflict began on February 28, despite saying they are not involved.
