Last Thursday’s closing ceremony marked the end of the International Red Sea Film Festival. The Oscar-winning director Spike Lee chaired the jury, which included Tuba Büyüküstün, who viewed and assessed the 16 films in the festival’s selection.

The ceremony’s presenter, Saudi actress and film producer Fatima Albanawi, invited Tûba Büyüküstün, who gave out the “Best Actor” award during the closing ceremony, to the stage with the following words:

“It is very beautiful; I want to invite a world-renowned ambassador of Turkish cinema and an admired actor to the stage,” my grandmother tells me of her remarkable performance, which I witness virtually every day when I walk into her living room.

Tuba Büyüküstün shared her thoughts about the International Red Sea Film Festival in the following way: “First of all, I found it really beneficial to be a part of this jury. Every year, the International Red Sea Film Festival fosters cross-cultural relationships by bringing together amazing films and creative individuals from around the globe. For me, it was a process of growth and inspiration to watch the films in the festival lineup, participate in the activities, and be a part of this passion and energy.

At the events he attended, on the red carpets of the festival’s opening and closing ceremonies, and in the global media, the popular actor captivated audiences with his grace and elegance. With her role in the television series 20 Dakika, Büyüküstün—who also sat on the International Asian Film Festival jury—became the first Turkish actress to receive a nomination for the International Emmy Awards in the “Best Actress” category.
