Trump can’t resist taking another swipe at Taylor Swift after engagement to Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift’s engagement sparks another reaction from Donald Trump.

As responses to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s recent engagement keep coming in, President Donald Trump, who is one of Swift’s biggest critics, has something to say about it.

A reporter asked the president what he thought about the news that Swift and Kelce were getting married at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, August 26. There you go. I hope everything goes well for them. “I wish them the best of luck because I think he’s a great player, a great guy, and a great person.”

Swift and Kelce shared a joint Instagram post on Tuesday announcing that they were getting married. The post included photos of the two of them in a lush yard, where Swift’s new engagement ring could be seen. It said, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The president’s response is very different from what he has said about Swift in the past. The twice-impeached leader of the country has openly mocked Swift many times. It is well known that Trump wrote “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” on his Truth Social account after Swift officially backed Kamala Harris’s campaign for president in 2024.

Recently, the president said that Swift was like actress Sydney Sweeney, who was in a controversial American Eagle ad that was attacked by many and compared to racist Nazi propaganda. A Republican named Sydney Sweeney has the “HOTTEST” ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are sold out. “Go get them, Sydney!” the president wrote, and then he said bad things about Swift. “Just look at Taylor Swift, who sings “Woke.” I told everyone what she was by saying the TRUTH that I hate her. She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became “NO LONGER HOT.”

Swift herself has been an outspoken critic of the commander in chief, referring to his first term in office as an “autocracy” during a 2019 interview with The Guardian. Swift promised to “vote [Trump] out in November” in a 2020 post on X, where she also criticized how he handled the George Floyd protests. “After fueling racism and white supremacy for your whole presidency, you have the nerve to act like you’re better than everyone else before threatening violence?” she wrote.
