Top US diplomat calls Saudi FM to discuss situation in Gaza
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Monday to discuss the situation in Gaza and efforts to address the humanitarian repercussions there, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.
Prince Faisal has been activaly involved in conversations about the war in Gaza in an effort to bring an end to the conflict.
On Friday, Prince Faisal spoke at a press conference in Oslo where he advocated for a two-state solution, say that a way out of the cycle of violence must be found and a Palestinian state must be established, expressing confidence in the Palestinian Authority’s capability to assume responsibilities in the event of such statehood.
Prince Faisal also said that he hopes a new resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza in the UN Security Council will get more support, “especially by the US who had previously vetoed the resolution.”
