Tom Holland says he’ll quit acting after having kids and avoids stealing Zendaya’s spotlight

Tom Holland shares future plans, reveals why he avoids walking red carpets with Zendaya.

Tom Holland told Men’s Health that he doesn’t walk the red carpet with girlfriend Zendaya at movie premieres “because it’s not my moment; it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us.”

The two stars like working together on Marvel’s “Spider-Man” series. However, Holland did not want to steal Zendaya’s shine by walking the “Challengers” or “Dune” carpets.

Two of Zendaya and Holland’s three “Spider-Man” films grossed over $1 billion globally. The couple will spend most of 2025 filming a fourth “Spider-Man” picture and Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.” Holland will appear on red carpets alongside Zendaya many times in 2026 due to the release dates of both films.

The actors revealed their relationship in 2021. Holland did not discuss his personal life with Zendaya, but he did speculate about his work after having a family.

“When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore,” Holland stated. Golf and dad. I shall vanish.”

Holland responded, “Studios love it,” to a question about acting with Zendaya on the “Dish” podcast last month. One hotel room. Separate drivers. Not crazy anymore. It works, right?

“A saving grace. Indeed, it’s the most pleasant experience I’ve ever had,” he expressed with seriousness. “It’s just that beautiful thing when you’re on set and a director gives you a note you don’t agree with or she doesn’t like, and you have that familiar glance of ‘can’t wait to talk about it later.'”

Last year, Zendaya told Vanity Fair that working with Holland is surprisingly comfortable: “It’s actually strangely comfortable.” It’s almost instinctual. Your acting partner makes you feel safe. I enjoy working with him. He’s gifted and dedicated. He always gives his all, even when exhausted. I like that about him. It feels normal. We met that way. At a chemical read.”

Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, and others will join Holland and Zendaya in Nolan’s “The Odyssey.” Universal Pictures will release the picture on July 17, 2026. Sony and Marvel plan to release “Spider-Man 4” on July 24, 2026.
