The Summer I Turned Pretty fans asked to stop visiting film set
Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP) have been asked to stop visiting its filming locations over “real safety concerns”.
In a statement on social media, the team behind the hit Prime Video show requested people to stop sharing footage from the feature film, which concludes the story after three seasons.
“We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming,” the post said.
Clips appearing to show the cast on set have been making the rounds online, with some videos amassing hundreds of thousands of views.
The TSITP team added they’ve been “working hard to create a protected bubble” to make the best movie possible.
Jenny Han, who wrote the coming-of-age trilogy from which the romantic series was adapted, has returned to write and direct the film.
Sharing a statement on her Instagram Story, she said that production have had to stop and clear crowds from shots, which “breaks the crew’s focus”.
“This story means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to you too,” she wrote.
The teen drama has been hugely popular since its release in 2022.
Millions were gripped by the show’s love triangle plot between Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin, played by Lola Tung, and brothers Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher, played by Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno.
At its peak last year it hit top spot as Prime Video’s most popular show in the UK, with the streamer saying it hit number one in 120 countries.
But its popularity has also sparked a fan frenzy and it’s not the first time there have been pleas for them to regulate their behaviour towards the cast.
Last year, fans were asked to start “acting normal online” after stars were targeted with abuse in the build-up to the show’s emotional climax.
The storyline of the series is set in the fictional town of Cousins Beach but filmed primarily on the North Carolina coast.
Although story details for the film are still under wraps, the studio said it would be the final chapter of Belly’s journey.
The main cast is set to return for the feature-length film.
