The Rock appeared to have lost most of his muscle mass next to co-star Emily Blunt, who is also starring in “The Smashing Machine,” which is set to hit cinemas on Oct. 3, 2025.

YouTube movie reviewer The Critical Drinker wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Dude is well into his 50s now. He was gonna have to come off the gear at some point.”

The former WWE wrestler turned actor has often faced criticism for playing similar roles in his movies. However, it seems he proved everyone wrong after recently receiving a 15-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival on Monday night.

The gesture left the actor in tears in what is considered one of this year’s longest standing ovations, as reported by Variety.

While The Smashing Machine has yet to hit cinema screens, the movie received an 8.7/ 10 on IMDB but is subject to change for the better or worse.

A movie critic wrote on IMDB, “The Smashing Machine is one of the many fighter biopics to have come out in the last years.”

Another added, “Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has done a lot in his career-action blockbusters, comedies, even family films-but nothing prepared me for the raw, unfiltered power of The Smashing Machine.”

Produced by A24 and directed by Benny Safdie, The Smashing Machine follows the true story of MMA fighter and UFC champion Mark Kerr at the top of his career, as it derails due to his opioid addiction.
