Tamer Hosny loses 1M followers over Ramadan chips ad
Egyptian star Tamer Hosny lost about one million followers from his Facebook account after joining a Ramadan ad for Chipsy Potato Chips company, facing a boycott campaign amid the Gaza war.
Tamer Hosni’s followers on his verified Facebook account were 25 million, and hours after the release of the Ramadan ad, the number slipped to 24 million and still decreasing.
Star Hosny was heavily backlashed on social media after presenting an ad for Chipsy Chips company, which is considered one of the boycotted companies after the latest Israeli war in Gaza on Oct. 7.
Responded varied about the Ramadan ad for the Egyptian singer Tamer Hosny, where some slammed it and called his presence in such advertisements “disappointing.”
On the other hand, some other fans supported Tamer and said that he is free to appear in any ad he wants calling it freedom.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian star also appeared in an ad for the Egyptian Red Crescent helping in aid packages heading to Palestinians.
Since the war in Gaza, during which 31,112 Palestinians have been killed, pro-Palestinian activists announced launching boycott campaigns against several brands including McDonald’s, Starbucks, Nestle, Puma, and several other companies.
