Sulaf Fawakherji shows solidarity with Palestine, wears Keffiyeh in Instagram photos
Syrian artist Sulaf Fawakherji wanted to show her support for Palestine and Gaza, so she posted several images with her admirers in which she wore keffiyeh, the traditional garment of Palestinian women.
“Palestine exposed the lie, broke the restrictions, and crossed the borders,” Sulaf Fawakherji said in a comment on the photographs posted to her Instagram account.
According to her, “Palestine is a dream and certainty, with the symbolism of its black and white keffiyeh lines, fishing nets extending from the fishermen of Mesopotamia to the fishermen of the Mediterranean, and the greenness of the blessed olive leaves and their age as long as the earth.”
There is more to our traditional clothing than meets the eye. Every design, color, knot, and thread weaves a personal narrative, historical origins, and an eternal truth.
