The Spanish scientists also claimed that Christopher Columbus changed his religion from Judaism to Christian Catholicism to avoid being oppressed and mistreated. The study also aims to shed light on Columbus’ origins and debunk already-known information that the navigator is Italian from Genoa.
This is not the first time that the navigator’s origins have been brought up since more than 25 contradicting theories say that he comes from different countries across Europe including, Poland, Great Britain, Greece, Portugal, Hungary, and Scandinavia.
Christopher Columbus died in Valladolid, Spain in 1506, but was sent to the Carreibean’s Hispaniola to be buried there on behalf of his wish. his remains were later moved to Cuba and finally rest in peace in Seville, Spain at the Cathedral.
It’s worth noting that the scientists also took DNA from Columbus’ son Hernando and brother Diego.
