Scarlet: This new 3D anime looks absolutely stunning

Studio Orange has competition! A recently revealed 3D anime called “Scarlet” took the internet by storm for its stunning visuals and compelling revenge storyline. With Studio Chizu in charge of production and Mamoru Hosoda as director, the movie is highly anticipated by many fans.
Mamoru Hosoda is a renowned Japanese director who worked on several beloved projects such as Summer Wars, Wolf Children, The Boy and the Beast, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and many more.
Hosoda’s latest film is expected to drop during the Winter season, on Nov. 21, 2025.

Many fans commended Hosoda for trying something different, since most of his movies don’t revolve around revenge and are usually 2D animated.
A social media user wrote on Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), “I think it’s a good idea to try something new!
I was surprised that it wasn’t a 2D animation, but it’s really great to see them taking on a new challenge in 3D!”
On the contrary, several others weren’t so keen about the use of CGI in anime since it’s often criticized for its production quality, which makes it look “cheap” and “unfinished” to many.
Another social media user wrote, “It’s going to be good but unfortunate it’s CGI. His art style is so visually appealing. CGI at anime movie budgets will never match up to his hand drawn stuff.”
While that’s true in many cases, a Japanese studio called Orange has proved many anime fans wrong with titles such as Beastars and Houseki no Kuni.
According to several sources, Scarlet will follow the story of a heroin, who ventures on a journey to seek revenge from the person who killed her father, the king.
