Saudi foreign minister meets IAEA chief in Riyadh

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi in Riyadh on Wednesday.
The two reviewed cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the agency, “particularly in the areas of nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear safety and security,” according to the Saudi foreign ministry.
“Important to meet [Prince Faisal] for a timely exchange on the situation in Iran and other important non-proliferation issues where diplomacy remains essential,” Grossi said in a post on X.
Earlier in the day, Grossi also met with Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.
“Important to be in Saudi Arabia today as the country moves forward with its civilian nuclear program,” Grossi wrote on X.
Grossi said he and Prince Abdulaziz reviewed the “growing cooperation” between the IAEA and Saudi Arabia and welcomed the Kingdom’s “commitment to transparency.”
“The IAEA will continue working with [Saudi Arabia] to ensure this process moves forward in a safe, secure and peaceful manner,” he added.
