Saudi Arabia welcomes UN Human Rights Council’s resolution on Iran’s ‘unprovoked attacks’

Saudi Arabia on Wednesday welcomed the United Nations Human Rights Council’s unanimous adoption of a resolution on the implications of “the unprovoked Iranian attacks” against the Kingdom, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the UAE and Jordan.

“The council’s adoption of the resolution… by consensus of its members reflects the unified rejection by the international community of the Iranian attacks and its condemnation of these heinous acts as serious violations of human rights,” the Kingdom’s foreign ministry said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia also reiterated its condemnation of Iranian attacks against the Kingdom and countries in the region.

“[The attacks] constitute a flagrant violation of states’ sovereignty and territorial integrity and a clear violation of international conventions and international law,” it said, adding that targeting countries which are not party to the conflict constitutes a “blatant act of aggression that cannot be justified or accepted.”
