Saudi Arabia presents vision for Riyadh Expo 2030 at General Assembly of BIE
A high-level Saudi delegation comprising senior ministers and officials presented the Kingdom’s vision for Riyadh Expo 2030 during the 172nd General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions held on Tuesday.
The Kingdom has set its sights on hosting the World Expo in Riyadh from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, centered around the theme “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow.”
Ibrahim bin Muhammad Al-Sultan, CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to completing the Expo 2030 hosting site well in advance of the specified deadlines.
“By 2028, all preparations for hosting Expo 2030 will be ready, and we plan to host more than 120 million visitors in 2030,” Al-Sultan said, adding that the Expo site relies on clean energy and takes into account environmental standards.
Khalid Al-Falih, Saudi Minister of Investment, announced that the Kingdom has allocated $7.8 billion to support the hosting of Expo 2030.
Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the US, Princess Reema bint Bandar, expressed the Kingdom’s dedication to organizing the most exceptional Expo conference in its history, while highlighting Riyadh as an exceptional global tourist destination that will be fully prepared to host Expo 2030.
Princess Reema added that that a special visa will be provided to individuals attending Expo 2030 in Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday attended the Kingdom’s official reception to support Riyadh’s bid to host the World Expo in 2030 in Paris.
The official reception was held by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City for delegates of the 179 member states of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) – the organization responsible for overseeing and regulating World Expos.
The event aimed to showcase Riyadh’s readiness to host the Expo as well as its plans and projects ahead of the vote at the next General Assembly in November 2023 in which the next host city will be selected.
