Saudi Arabia, Greece express concern over attacks on energy infrastructure

Saudi Arabia and Greece pledged to strengthen security and defense cooperation and expressed concern over attacks targeting energy infrastructure, according to a joint statement issued Sunday following Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ official visit to Riyadh.
The two countries stressed the importance of protecting international maritime routes to ensure the safe and uninterrupted flow of energy supplies to global markets, warning that attacks on energy infrastructure threaten supply availability and market stability.
The joint statement reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security cooperation and underscored their shared determination to enhance coordination and cooperation in defense-related fields to promote regional and international peace and security.
Both sides also expressed their intention to deepen security coordination on issues of mutual interest, including combating crime, extremism and terrorism, as well as strengthening cybersecurity cooperation and information sharing.
Earlier Sunday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received Mitsotakis at the Royal Court in al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, where the two leaders held official talks.
During the meeting, the Crown Prince and the Greek prime minister reviewed bilateral relations and explored opportunities to expand cooperation across various sectors.
They also discussed the latest regional and international developments and ways to coordinate efforts to promote regional and international security and stability.
The discussions come amid continued regional tensions and attacks on energy infrastructure, which have raised concerns over the security of energy supplies.
