Ryan Reynolds and Justin Baldoni’s traumatic encounter revealed amid $250M Lawsuit against NY Times
Ryan Reynolds and Baldoni met on uncomfortable terms. Baldoni called it traumatizing, although a source says Reynolds was stern but not hostile.
At a January 2024 Blake Lively meeting, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Baldoni reportedly fought. Baldoni’s lawsuit calls the encounter “traumatic,” but an insider says Ryan was tough but not confrontational when discussing a “hostile” work environment.
Following Baldoni’s $250 million lawsuit against the New York Times, more information regarding the encounter at the couple’s NYC penthouse has emerged.
Ryan Reynolds’ encounter with Justin Baldoni was revealed.
The January 4 meeting source told TMZ on Thursday that Ryan was “angry and stern” and “spoke in an “impassioned” way, but it did not rise to the level of screaming or berating.”
Baldoni’s counter complaint claims the couple invited him, other producers, and a Sony representative to a meeting. The petition states that attendees “arrived prepared to discuss plans for the next day’s filming with production materials in hand.” Lively and Reynolds allegedly “blindsided” them with a “list of unexpected and concerning grievances.”
Lively’s co-star and director of It Ends With Us described the incident as “traumatic,” stating that he had “never received such a harsh message before.”
The source denied the charges, saying, “The meeting did go down last January, as “It Ends With Us” was to resume production after industry strikes… and everyone in attendance knew Baldoni’s alleged behavior would be addressed… so there was zero blindsiding.”

According to the insider, Baldoni’s court pleadings falsely allege that the “inappropriate and humiliating reprimand” occurred while other celebrities were at the apartment.
Baldoni, along with publicists Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel, is among the 10 plaintiffs suing the outlet for allegedly smearing Lively. They are suing the newspaper for “libel and false light invasion of privacy” in response to the article “‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine” published on December 21. The piece was published after Lively filed an eight-page lawsuit against Jane The Virgin alum outlining sexual harassment and other violations.
