Targeting Russia’s logistics is in preparation for the expected counteroffensive, a Ukrainian military spokesperson said on Sunday after a fire destroyed a Russian fuel depot in Crimea.

Natalia Humeniuk said the fire had caused much “anxiety” in the Russian military.

“The fact that the enemy’s logistics are undermined … this work is preparatory for the broad, full-scale offensive, which everyone expects,” Ukrainian media cited Humeniuk as telling national television.

“I think that peace is always made by opening channels. You can never achieve peace through closure … This is not easy.”

The pope added that he had spoken about the situation in Ukraine with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Metropolitan (bishop) Hilarion, a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Budapest.Ukrainian air defences destroy 15 missiles overnight
