Ronaldo celebrates Saudi National Day in traditional attire, sends message of pride

Cristiano Ronaldo wished his fans a happy Saudi National Day by sending a message “pride, unity and celebration” on his Instagram account.

“Happy Saudi National Day to everyone in Saudi Arabia! Wishing you a day filled with pride, unity and celebration with your loved ones,” the Al Nassr star said in the post.

His message garnered millions of likes withing a couple hours.

Sporting the traditional Saudi attire, Ronaldo was dressed up in a white thobe with a sword in his right hand along with a celebratory banner saying “Saudi National Day” around his neck.

The Portuguese national also shared a photo with Al Nassr’s head coach Jorge Jesus who also donned a traditional outfit.

‘A great country’

The Portuguese national called Saudi Arabia a “fantastic place to live” in a video message as he boasted about the Kingdom’s safe environment, competitive football and rising tourism.

“I love to be here; my family loves to be here. It is a great country,” the football star said.

“People who don’t know Saudi Arabia should come to visit because the tourism is fantastic and the culture is amazing.”

Saudi Arabia marked its 95th National Day on Tuesday with citizens and residents across the Kingdom enjoying a nationwide holiday. The annual occasion is an official public holiday commemorating the 1932 decree issued by the Kingdom’s founder King Abdulaziz that united the regions of Najd and Hejaz under the name of Saudi Arabia.

This year’s celebration took place under the theme “Our Pride Lies in Our Nature,” reflecting Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage and natural environment.
