Rihanna performs in Anant Ambani lavish wedding bash in India
Rihanna, the global pop icon and R&B superstar, made her first live performance in India on Friday night, as she entertained the guests at the pre-wedding bash of Anant Ambani, the son of India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani.
The singer reportedly received a staggering $5 million for her exclusive performance at the private event, which was held at the Reliance Greens Complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
Rihanna dazzled the crowd with her hits, such as ‘Pour it Up’, ‘Wild Things’, ‘Diamonds’, and ‘Work’, wearing a fluorescent green bodycon and glittery gown. She also interacted with the distinguished guests, who included celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and others. The event also featured a magic show by renowned illusionist David Blaine, and a performance by Punjabi music star Diljit Dosanjh.
Anant Ambani, 28, is the youngest child of Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, which has interests in telecom, oil and gas, and retail and financial services. Forbes estimates his net worth at around $116 billion. He is engaged to Radhika Merchant, 29, the daughter of wealthy business magnate Viren Merchant, who is the CEO of pharma company Encore Healthcare Private Limited. The couple got engaged in a Gol Dhana ceremony in Mumbai on January 19, 2023, and are set to tie the knot in July 2024.
The pre-wedding bash was a three-day extravaganza, with around 1,200 guests attending the festivities, which included traditional ceremonies, visits to the Ambanis’ animal rescue, and a ‘jungle fever’ theme party. The guest list also featured prominent personalities like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Disney CEO Bob Iger, Ivanka Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates, and members of Bhutan’s royal family. The guests were provided with a detailed, nine-page dress code for the different events.
The Ambanis are known for their lavish and extravagant celebrations, having hosted several star-studded parties in the past. In 2018, they invited Beyoncé to perform at the sangeet of their daughter Isha Ambani, who married Anand Piramal, the son of another billionaire industrialist. In 2019, they hosted a grand reception for their son Akash Ambani, who married Shloka Mehta, the daughter of diamond tycoon Russell Mehta. Rihanna’s performance at Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding bash was another addition to their list of spectacular events.
