Remembering Matthew Perry: 1 year since the Friends star’s death

One year ago, beloved Friends star Matthew Perry who played Chandler Bing tragically passed away at 54 after a long battle with Ketamine addiction. He was found unresponsive in his hot tub at his Los Angeles house. 

The US sitcom has garnered a cult-like fandom due to its cast and iconic moments with Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) being among the most adored characters in the show. So you could imagine how fans felt after hearing about his passing.

To quote Chandler Bing, “We swallow our feelings. Even if it means we’re unhappy forever. Sound good?”

His bond with all his fellow actors, especially Matt Leblanc who played Chandler’s best friend and roommate, Joey felt so real and wholesome. The brother-like bond these two shared is what in our opinion makes Friends so special to many people across the world.

The Friends cast said, “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family”.

Fellow actors Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer all took to their official social media accounts to pay tribute to Matthew Perry in remembrance of all the good times they had together while filming on set.

They all described him as a kind and generous person bringing up his immaculate comedy for its timing and delivery. They also brought up the times Perry came to set despite feeling ill from his long struggle with addiction after suffering a 1997 jet skiing accident.

Jennifer Anniston wrote, ” We were always the 6 of us. This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be.”

Recently, five people were charged with having a hand in Mattew Perry’s tragic death with prosecutors claiming that the individuals “Took advantage” of Perry’s vulnerability during his addiction and provided him with drugs which ended up killing him.

The prosecutors added that two doctors, an individual named “Ketamine Queen,” Perry’s live assistant, and an in-between man were all linked to the matter in question. Investigators also claimed that Matthiew Perry fell back to old addictive habits because of them.
