‘Regrettable’ that Japan not exempt from US steel tariffs: Govt. spokesperson

The fact Japan was not granted an exemption from US steel and aluminum tariffs is “regrettable,” Tokyo’s top government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi said Wednesday.
“That Japan was not excluded from the imposition of additional tariffs is regrettable,” he told reporters, warning that the move “risks having a significant impact on the Japan-US economic relationship.”
